MtView-Fruitstand
On a drive through what is known as the "Apple Loop" near Hood River, Oregon in September, I was on a mission to find a beautiful Mt. Hood view for my painting series of the Columbia River Gorge.  I was a beautiful clear day and I made many stops and found peeks of the mountain from different farms and vantage points.

The Mt. View Orchards weathered sign was what I was looking for.  A friend had suggested that I stop there.  The fruit was delicious, the view of Mount Hood was spectacular, but the mountain with the rows of late season Dahlias growing in the foreground was the inspiration I was looking for.  I knew it would become a painting.

Everything looks best in the summer time

Summer in the Pacific Northwest and especially the area around the Columbia River Gorge is glorious.  Everything looks its best with summer sunshine.  Here is the result of how I see summer in my corner of the world.
