Painting the Sights of Summer

@copyright Glennda Field

Painting the Sights of Summer Workshop  on July 16 found 15 students painting Multnomah Falls.  The painting on the left uses mostly warm tones to capture the lush greenery surrounding the most visited tourist sight in the state of Oregon.

This was my demonstration painting for the morning session.

Multnomah Falls II - one more version of the majestic falls.  This one includes some cooler tones of red and blue to emphasize the contrast of the granite cliffs against the sunlit trees as the sun comes up from the east.

The afternoon session was scheduled to include a painting of  the students favorite summer flower.  However, the class was so focused on finishing their Multnomah Falls painting that we had only enough time for me to demonstrate painting a white Matjilla Poppy.

Coat of Many Colors

A rooster on the grass with sky as the background.  Hmmm.....nice but no wow factor.   Did a little reworking, had a lot of fun, enjoyed using a wider variety of colors with some added compositional elements and ended up with a flamboyant bird.

It's nearly the season for Sunflowers

Sunflowers have to be one of the happiest flowers of all.  They are very fun to paint.
