Oregon Society of Artists - Best of Show for watercolor painting "Pondering"
" Pondering", won the top honor, BEST OF SHOW award at the Oregon Society of Artists Fall 2009 Juried Show.
This painting is a 16" x 20" watercolor painting on 160 lb Arches cold press paper. I used a limited pallete of only three colors; Burnt Sienna, Sap Green and Ultramarine Blue. The light coming from the left shining on Maison face was what drew me to paint her. The sun iluminated her hair and showed all it's beautiful twists, turns and curls. But most compelling is the thoughtful, pondering, totally engaged mood she evokes.
August 30, 2009 was the Artist's Reception where I was delighted to win - "Best of Show".
